Another stunning example of just how far our little friend, the BR, can go. Excellent recording of an excellent song.

Haven't listened posts for a while and immediately I found a real pearl. When I read the header, I thought this was a Clash cover, but it is even better. A real nice psycpop tune. Well done, Greeny!

Who was claiming they are just starting out on bass playing? It wasn't you was it? The bass playing on this great, really provides a solid foundation that holds the whole song together. Love the chorusy "blow out the sun" (did I get that right?) where the harmonies are a bit all over the place and sound very trippy. Really infectious little guitar riff, lovely lyrics that evoke my youth again (except I didn't learn to fight, I'm a coward me). This is an absolute cracker!!!

Cheers,

Nigel

PS like Redler I keep expecting a Clash cover! Showing my age again....

I've met this guy. And he is awesome.

Did I tell you that he actually floats about 2 inches abover the ground? No?

Well I have had a glass or two....

Giz a ring Tim, I haven't heard from you in ages....

Still an ace track.

I listened this again and admired the real 60's sounds. Did you use MBR built in effects on guitar or how you recorded this perfect gtr and bass sound?

Everything is done using the in-built patches, and all of them are pre-sets (i.e. I don't modify anything except input volume on some of the louder patches).

There are some great retro sounding patches on the BR, and you're right - I'm always looking for that sixties tone / sound. I tend to favour the MS Dry and Dry Crnch, but Vtg Brit and Vo Comp are good too. Also, it's part of how you play the chords to get that 60's 'jangle'.

For bass, I just turn everything up to max on the guitar and input volume, and use the 'Bass Crunch' patch. Every single bass recording I do uses this simple method. And I'm using a pretty cheap P-Bass copy.

I do pretty much the same for most of our songs!!
