compact flash question

Started by sunset, November 16, 2009, 11:13:08 PM

Hello!

Anyone else having problems finding compact flash for BR-900's?  I've purchased 2 so far online listed as compatible ( Delkin 1gb) but when I receive them they are ultras or 55X.  Anyone else finding this a challenge?  Is so what are you using? :)

Thanks!

SST - Not too sure just what 'Ultras' or '55X''s are? But if push comes to shove and you can't locate any 1GB cards, I've heard say that 2GB cards (which of course are readily available), also work, though obviously only 1GB of those cards. It may be a thing to think about, and I'm sure you could get some more info from Posters here before you purchase any. Of the 'Ultras' etc, first of all, will they physically fit into the BR900 slot? If they do, will they then format to BR working system?

SST - I was intrigued by 'Ultras' and so looked them up. Hmm. Do you know that on Amazon a 1GB CompactFlash card by SanDisk costs £198.00!!
Absolute b*ll*cks!! I've used the Integral 1GB CompactFlash card version for the last3/4 years at least in my BR900 without ANY problems. I don't know where you're based, but I'm sure you'll have a local version of Amazon available via WWW, get on there and order as many Integral (and other makes) 1GB as you wish, there seems to be quite a few available. Good luck.

B&H Photo still carries Delkin generic CF cards for $15.

I have mostly SanDisk generic but the supply seems to have dried up for those.

I have gone to every photo and electronics store in my town, even asking if they could be ordered. No luck! Eventually found a "spare part" store, you know te kind: hooverbags, batteries, lightbulbs, that had 1 in stock! immediately bought it (11 euro). Everytime I went back to town, he had a new one in stock which I bought, 6 in total... last week he had 5 more in stock! (brands: first ones "adata" and now "integral i-Pro", all of which work fine in my BR-600)

(I think it's ridiculous that Roland chooses these restrictive media formats for these CURRENT long-life-cycle models, and then chooses not to supply the media through the same retail channel)

Agreed!  I've gone off the 1g's for now, I've ordered it twice and twice I've returned them( both times they were listed as regular 1g and twice they have been Ultra's).  Anyway, I'm trying Delkin 512, I'll post how that pans out! ;)

I had the same problem with ultra cards, they do not work, you have to specify: SDCFJ-1024   Or  SDCFB-1024  Sandisk they're available on Ebay.

You still find them at OEM World http://www.oempcworld.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=CF1024. I have four of them, and haven't had any problems.
