DELAY removal permanent?

Greetings, A newbie here with a dumb question, no doubt. I do know how to turn the guitar DELAY off, but how do I keep it off? When I begin recording or just turn the device ON it also resets the DELAY to ON.
How do I keep it OFF and make OFF the default?
Also I warn you that this will be the first of many dumb questions. I am tech deficient but determined to learn this.

You would save the preset as a "user" preset
refer to pg 62 in the manual for details
