Are all of the effects the same on the br units, and is the vocal pitch correction good enough to be useful? I am leaning toward buying a 1200, but if the lower end units have much of the same electronics onboard, I might go a little cheaper. All I do is record at home, no live situations. And I'm not a great singer, that's why the vox question.

RTY5 - The thing is, the more money you spend on your initial BR-purchase, the more bells & whistles you'll get. If you can afford it, buy the 1200. It now ships with an 80gb hard-drive - which is more than enough for a couple of completed concept CDs. :) It has a speaker-simulation program which will enable you to hear how your songs will sound through various speakers situations - from big speakers to boomboxes. And it does of course have the vocal-pitch correction and harmony function. You've used the Boss layout previously, so the learning-curve won't be that difficult. And it does seem that any new BR product is way off in the distance, and so Roland/Boss update their software per machine - there is an update for the BR1200 on the Roland site currently. By the way, there is absolutely nothing wrong with the BR900 (I have used both the 900 & 1200), the one niggling problem is the availabilty of 1gb memory cards. Good luck with your choice.

Thanks. I'll post when I decide. It's looking like a 1200 though.

The 1200 is a really great unit, hard to go wrong if you have the cash to spend on it.  I really am enjoying mine big time.
