Thanks, folks.

No, orh.  This is another live jam in my living room.  It involves another bloke on the humbucker guitar, bassist, drummer, vocalist, and there actually is Hammond in this one, including an understated solo. We reverted back to no overdubbing.

I am obviously not a blues player but don't think I could have done this a couple years ago, so I am encouraged to sally forth.  BB, your extended commentary is especially appreciated. While positive in nature, it also inspires me to go back at listen to more straight blues (I used to many moons ago).

I totaly love this arrangement!!!  This is the kind of stuff i like to listen while at a pub with a live band - with a lot of improvisation and with room to change things a bit and throw my brain into a spin.

I have heard this song under a lot of different arrangements, and have to say that this is tops - the whole instrumentation, vocals and guitar work was excellent...  One of my all time favorites ---

Wow, thanks for the compliment, Diego. The arrangement is based on the Allman Brothers' version (a brief snippet of which can be found below) with a nod to Bobby Bland's. Although I have many, many influences, The Allman Brothers are possibly my favorite band.

They are also the model (at least my model) for what we are trying to do with our jams: loose arrangements with lots of room for improvisation.

I have a lot of favorite bands, but most definetly the Allman Brothers are top!!!  I was introduced to their music my first year in the USA while working @ the cafeteria cleaning during the night shift = what a blast --- while going to college - a little skunking, crank the tunes (we could inundate the entire student union and cafeteria with music via the mai pa system), and there they were -among others...  Robin Trower was another - and then of all things Leo Kottke (what steared me towards the 12 string) - wonder what was in those pipes...  It made cleaning the cafeteria a lot of fun...
