I always wondered how he got that tone and it was the subject of several conversations when I was a kid. The rumor was that he had amps specially designed. A pedal? Who knew?

With the br600, I find I must have either a lengthy drum intro or period of silence in order to be in sync with the drum patterns throughout the song. I really didn't want to have a drum intro but couldn't find a way around it.

Rick, you have to use Break patterns to make silence. Not sure how to do it on a 600, but using the Break pattern works for me.

I really didn't want to have a drum intro but couldn't find a way around it.

First, bounce your tracks for the final mix. You only want to trim this final mix, not the individual tracks. Then use the Track Move feature to move measure 3 (or whichever measure the song actually starts at) of the final mix back to measure 1. See pages 79 and 80 of the BR-600 manual. An easy way to specify the location of the end of the song is to hold down the STOP key and press FF.

Another way to trim your song is to export the final mix to a WAV file, then import that file into Audacity or some similar wave editing program. This will allow you to precisely trim the ends visually.
