This tune was inspired by watching Rashad Evans and Rampage Jackson lipping off to each other on the UFC show.
I was hoping to have this finshed and posted for last night's UFC 104, but I couldn't throw vox down until today.

Everything was pretty much one take. There are some strange noises in here too. I think I was getting interference from my fridge kicking in.

Anyways, here are the specs (for anyone interested)

Guitars - Japanese strat mic'd with a Shure SM58 in front of a Crate 4X12 driven by a Fender Bandmaster head.
Bass - Tight Bass sim effect on the BR600. Played through the Strat on the neck PUP. (I think I dropped the pick at the beginning of the song. Oops!)
Effects - Dunlop Wah and Boss Digital Delay on the lead. BBE Green Screamer on all guitar tracks.
Drums - BR600 "Room" kit
Vocals - SM58 straight into the BR600 using mic effect P01.

Mastered using P08-SoftComp.

Hope you like it.

Oh, Yeah!! Of course there's a little Peppers in there, but I feel the Kings X vibe too.

This totally kicks ass, bro!

I'm on my third listen...

It's all about quality and not quantity - I need to learn from that!!  ;D

Sweet wah solo, too - Love it.

Mark

Boy... oh boy!
Nice rock! :D

You're  the one singing, Vann!? Nice goin', man!

That rumbly bass reminds me of King's X as well. I almost expected Dug Pinnick to belt out the vocals.

That chucka-chucka wah is to die for. Nice solo (but bring that puppy up in the mix).

I know this sounds a little off, but I wonder what this would sound like with a simple horn arrangement. You could have a whole Tower of Power thing going on.

"Kings X" ???  - Holy crap!
That's funny - because I haven't heard that band name in like 20 years, and my friend's band just opened up for them this past summer. That's weird.

Horns might be interesting Blooby, but I can't quite hear it in my head.

This song kind of reminded me sort of  "Pat Traverse" (not that I'm that good - that's why the solo is "so low" wink-wink  ;)).

Anyways - glad you guys liked the tune, and thanks for the comments.

I was a huge Travers fan. Yeah, I can hear some of the same vibe as "Gettin' Betta" or one of his other funkier offerings.

As for the horns, I hear it during that riff that's at the end of most verse vocal line.  Even when the riff disappears, the horns could remain, parroting that guitar line.  The choruses could just sustain the chords being played. Just a thought.

Love that Green Screamer.

And the 60 cycle hum rigth at the end is classic.  Please don't edit it out in the future.
