Which effect should I use to record bass-like sounds using my strat?

Thanks for the help

Its a shame that the MBR doesn't let me turn my guitar into a virtual bass, so as an altenative, I like the idea of trying to adjust the pitch in cubase.  I have access to that but I haven't really gotten into it much.

I also like the obvious answer which is "go and buy a cheap bass".

That's what I did. A Squire P-Base with really great action. 150 cdn$ off Craig's list.
I really got to enjoy playing it. Very different from the guitar and not nearly as boring as I thought it would be. (With apologies to bass players everywhere for my previous biases).
I tried using the guitar and it's just not the same feel.
Maybe if I were a bass player first...but then I'd have a bass or 2 anyway.

I posted this(follow up) the other day regarding a Marshall patch Id created bout a month back. I was anxious to build a bass model I could use to play my strat through to create a bassline for a song(my first) Im working on. I was able to use this patch, using my neck pup, volume bout 8 or 9 and tone pot near zero...finger plucked, sounds good to me.
Maybe somebody can give it a try too?

I always thought of the bass as kinda lame.  Now its really growing on me and it helps me write different stuff.

I use a real bass now, but I used to use the "tight bass" model with my strat and ran through the neck pickup.

Come on, you know you want to go there...

We forgive you!  8)
It's a completely different instrument...
And the sound of a fretless bass... so amazing :D
