I'm finding peace with this song now... I've done a couple of remixes from scratch and always ended up with rougly the same mix, but incrementally better. I've replaced te original mp3 with my personal final mix. Now hosted on skydrive as test; I hope  that works for you all.

I really like it, the vocals rise to a almost fever pitch in that "I am waiting for you" part and the vocals are almost too raw to bear, but your tasteful worbling synth fills lift the vocals and smooth the rawness.  It seems to take those moments higher than with just vocals alone.  I like what you did here.  That guy is one heck of a singer.

Yeah BB you got it, spot on. The exact reasoning I was faced with for adding the synth part.
I love working with Michiel exactly because of that rawness, and his intense on-demand creativity. We are very very different personalities with different tastes. That in itself brings total uniqueness, but also a struggle to make it work, sometimes. I can handle it in small doses. Then again, neither of us can write music solo...
I'm always on the lookout for collabs where I can fulfill the role of arranger with a singer/songwriter.
