Quote from: Peterk on October 16, 2009, 01:09:01 AMBy the way - brilliant song! all recorded on the Micro?

Quote from: AcousticSimmie on October 19, 2009, 02:32:31 PMBoth of 64s songs worked (and agree they are v good)

Thanks guys. The song was recorded on my BR-864 (I don't have a Micro BR). The same thing can be acheived on a Micro BR except for the drums which use custom patterns. The Micro BR can only use its internal preset patterns for drum arrangements.

Quote from: Peterk on October 16, 2009, 01:09:01 AMWhat I could do is resample the others to get a 128 bit rate and see if it'll work.

Bitrate shouldn't matter, as long as you use one of the rates specified on page 113 of the Micro BR manual.

I ran your 5 files through a Linux program called mp3check and got a bit more info. None of the files except "05b - BG.mp3" contain CRC info, and that file was the one with the invalid sampling rate (22050 Hz). My Doctor Who files do have CRC info, so maybe that's the thing that the Micro BR doesn't like about your files. Re-sampling them in Audacity should add the CRC info, then the files should import okay.

I downloaded samba-pa-ti as an .mp3 backing track from guitarbackup.com (brilliant site) and found I had the problem - "Unsupported Format" on my MicroBR.

I loaded it into Audacity and found that it already had the correct sampling rate. I exported into anyway into a new mp3 file, without changing any of the settings, and bingo, it now works fine.

Audacity is your friend (if you own a MicroBR)

Now I just got to work out how to do that double string bend in bar 9 !

Thanks all - Bob W

Do you know 64, that if I was looking to buy a BR of any ilk, having you as a resource that I could call on would give me the confidence to take the plunge.

I'm sure I'm not the only one who has benefitted from your encyclopedic knowledge. So I am formally proffering my thanks, I'm sure that others will join me. May you long reside here. Thank you.

I stand by Flash on this one.  Thank you 64.

Thanks Flash and Tony. Appreciated.

The question of MP3 incompatibility still hasn't been answered conclusively. The mp3check info from my last test suggests that the Micro BR might reject MP3s that lack CRC information. However, we'd need to test a larger sample of MP3s, both compatible and incompatible, to see if it's consistent.

I noticed that there's a Win32 version of mp3check available on the author's website.

Maybe a few Micro BR users could give it a try to see if MP3s that lack CRC info are consistently incompatible with their Micro BR, and report their findings here.
