This looks interesting:

I would imagine that it has most of the same drawbacks I mentioned in my review of the DP-004 last year, but it could be an ideal recorder for technophobes who can't relate to v-tracks and drum programming.

More info here: http://www.tascam.com/products/dp-008.html

I might do a proper review of the DP-008 when I've had a chance to read the manual.

This seems to be very very interesting. It has also reverb as a Fx..very good. I owned the DP 004 and the quality was awesome, first of all for the built in mics. But reverb was missing...

This one seems to be the right way: 8 tracks, excellent built in mics, reverb  :) ;) ;)

..I got an idea for my Christmas present  ::) ::) ::)

p.s. when available?

Hmmm... nice and cute, in fact looks very nice... but no MIDI synch facilities? (And no easy way of using one's old synch-to-tape unit on track 8?)

The thing that's worrying me on the MBR at the moment - drum patterns are not programmable - would be even worse for me on here...

Any idea what price they're going to be coming in at?

If they'd added a MIDI synch, I really think I might have started looking at this instead of BR1600 etc... but I assume it's price point is way down from that anyway?

And also, the little silver brick has instilled quite a bit of "BOSS know what they're doing..." brand-loyalty in me  :D

I think more or less 300 $ ;)

I love Boss, but I like the warm analog feel of Tascams :D :D :D Owning both is the way

Sonic State says "The DP-008 will be available from TASCAM retailers in October with an estimated street price of $299."
