Built In Microphone - I can barely hear it - Help.

Started by simonjeste, May 26, 2008, 07:52:58 PM

I just bought the Micro BR a few hours ago.  I unpacked it and carefully inserted the batteries.  I followed all of the instructions in the manual and tried to record my voice using the built in mic.  It recorded, but I can barely hear it.  Even if I crank the volume up full, I can barely hear the recording.  I bought this because people said the built in mic was sensitive.  I set the input level to as high as it goes - still can barely hear it.  Anyone have any suggestions before I return this thing to the store?
Thanks very much!

make sure the source is not too far from the mic and adjust the mic sensitivity

For singing, you want to be about 6 inches away from the mic and project well. In addition to the sensitivity Ron mentioned, you can also can create a mic preset patch and crank the compressor, enhancer and EQ. Be careful with these. It's easy to overmodulate. There are 20 hard wired preset patches for the mic in the Micro. You might try messing with those before creating your own.

Actually it's not as difficult as it seems. There is a whole bank of user patches noted by a "U". From the factory they have the same settings as the P, pre-programmed patches. The U patches are completely adjustable. You have a set of U patches for guitar, mic and line.

With the mic on, press the Effects button. Use the Cursor and Value controls to get to MC>U01. Then press the Edit button and adjust and crank to your heart's content. When done press Exit and WRT to save the patch.

As mentioned earlier you can increase the output of many effects that go in the Mic bank.

Greetings...how do I get to the MC>U01 from the MC>P01?
Kind regards,
