Well, it is in C, but I don't think it's what Duke had in mind.  I used the tri/pan effect on the first guitar.  The result is something like a chorus but with more separation.

Nice Jam!!!  love the bass run and the octaves = for more that I practice doing the octave thing, man, my fingers just do not cooperate...  I would have to say that this "C jam Blues" is borderline jazzy --- it would actualy make  a great backer for a challenge....  thanks for sharing!!!

Good stuff, pretty jazzy - you need to get Mr2Cool to hear this (he's our resident jazzer). Nice playing all round.

Cheers,

Nigel

I have to point something out, because unfortunately my recording didn't make it obvious: The recording is a cover of Duke Ellington's tune, C Jam Blues.
The second guitar is the one actually playing the melody, which in this case also doubles as thr rhythm.
I should have recorded it a lot louder.

When Duke recorded it, he had the horns play the melody, their harmonies forming the appropriate chord according to its place in the chord sequence.
A trumpet, probably Cootie Williams, Soloed over the top of this riff.

I tried to do this with 2 guitars.  The horns playing the melody was easy enough, as each horn simply played a different note of the chord with the melody on top.
What I didn't do was record/mix it loud enough.  If you listen closely the rhythm guitar is playing the melody, GG  GG  GG  G C  ba-by  take-me down-to  Duuukes plaaaace. da da  da da  da da DAAA  CCCCC

And Segovia had the gonads to say the guitar was like a mini orchestra!  He didn't listen to Duke!

"And Segovia had the gonads to say the guitar was like a mini orchestra!  He didn't listen to Duke!"  well put!!!

My take to Segovia (one of my favorite guitar players) is that any instrument may become a "mini-orchestra" based on the player's ability ---

Your arrangement was fantastic!!!

Man, this is excellent! Love the arrangement and performance. I'm sitting right at the front table of the jazz club when I listen to this. Nicely done!
There are only three kinds of drummers. Those who can count, and those who can't.
