Problems with V Tracks

HELP!!!! I have been using my Micro BR for 5 months and I love it. But, I don't know how to use V Tracks...I find the manual does not explain a) how to record to V tracks, b) how to use V tracks, c) how to use saved V tracks to make the best copy for recording. I know how to see the V Tracks, and it seems when I make a recording, some parts of my recording go to V tracks but I don't know why. I would really appreciate any help you could give me. Thanks!!

Every time you record on the Micro BR, you're using a v-track (or a pair of v-tracks if stereo). It's just a question of which one(s). Each track is comprised of eight v-tracks and one of those v-tracks is always selected. When you record, the audio is recorded on the currently-selected v-track. When you press [PLAY], the four currently-selected v-tracks are played back.

When you create a new song, v-track 1 is selected on each of the four tracks. After you've recorded all four tracks on v-track 1, you can bounce them to another pair of v-tracks. Bouncing records a stereo mix of all four currently-selected v-tracks to the pair of v-tracks which you specify as the bounce target or destination. After the bounce, the two target v-tracks will be selected along with the next two empty v-tracks on the other two tracks.

For example, if you've recorded on v-tracks Tr1v1, Tr2v1, Tr3v1, and Tr4v1, then bounced a mix of those four tracks to Tr3v2 and Tr4v2, the Micro BR will automatically set the currently-selected v-tracks to Tr1v2, Tr2v2, Tr3v2, and Tr4v2. When you press [PLAY], you'll hear only the mix of your tracks from Tr3v2 and Tr4v2 since Tr1v2 and Tr2v2 are empty. So, you can now record two more tracks on Tr1v2 and Tr2v2 while listening to the mix of your previous tracks from Tr3v2 and Tr4v2. When you're done, you can bounce a mix of those four tracks (Tr1v2, Tr2v2, Tr3v2, and Tr4v2) to another pair of empty v-tracks. You can choose any available pair of v-tracks as the destination of the bounce. To illustrate this, let's choose Tr1v8 and Tr2v8 as the destination of this bounce. After the bounce, the currently-selected v-tracks will be Tr1v8, Tr2v8, Tr3v3, and Tr4v3. You can now record two more tracks on Tr3v3 and Tr4v3 while listening to the mix of your first six tracks from Tr1v8 and Tr2v8. You can continue bouncing and recording new tracks like this until you've used up all 32 v-tracks.

You can also manually select the current v-track for each of the four tracks (see "Switching V-tracks" in Section 1 of the Micro BR manual). This allows you to go back to previously-recorded v-tracks and edit them or re-mix them.

For a more detailed explanation with helpful graphics illustrating the v-track status after each operation, see this page:

It describes v-tracks and bouncing on the BR-864. But don't let that put you off. It works exactly the same way on the Micro BR except that the Micro BR only has four tracks (32 v-tracks) while the BR-864 has eight tracks (64 v-tracks). So, you have to bounce more often on a Micro BR than you would on a BR-864 (or BR-600, BR-900CD, etc.) but it works the same way.
