Its a real good mic for the micro, turn on the phantom power in the micro and record in stereo, it really adds to the microBR nicely.  I use mine all the time. And it records very clear like you said.  You have to be careful and not make noise when you are moving around, or tapping your feet, it will pick up everything.

After trying my Shure SM58 and getting only moderate quality, I also bought one of those, only the $5 version off the net. It really is pretty darn good and gives you stereo input.
I must admit tho, I went back to the on board mic. It takes practice but does give very good results depending on FX and recording techniques. EG move right in for soft and back for louder singing.

I have to agree with Glenn, tho I haven't tried the boss mic either. I have a cheap Yoga stereo mic, which is good enough and I use it from time to time (eg here), but the built-in mic is so good and with some practice gives excellent results. I think you'll find most of us BR-heads use the built-in in over 90% of our vocal/acoustic recordings and if you listen to some of the great results here I'm sure you'll see why.

That said, The performance here is great!! Great voice and playing !!!

Quote from: tony on September 27, 2009, 06:19:40 AMthe manual is pretty clear on this, if you are using a condenser mic then you have to have the plug-in power switched on, if you are using a dynamic mic (which the Shure SM58 is) then it must be turned off.

Actually, PlugIn power should be turned off for most mics, whether dynamic or condenser. PlugIn power is only supported by a few mics designed for small recorders, video cameras, etc., like the Boss BA-CS10 or the Sony ECM-DS70P (available much cheaper on eBay). It supplies 2.5 volts from the BR's external mic jack. Most other condenser mics require a higher voltage (usually 48 volts) which is supplied by a separate power supply, preamp, mixer, or battery.

I don't have any useful comment to add about the mics, wished I did,
But I am still learning also.
However, I do have a fair set of ears...LOL, and what I hear when I
listen to your post here, is fabulous!!
Please post more, I'm a fan.
You have a great voice.

I have the Sony ECM-DS70P  but I admit I rarely use it.  The on board seems to be just as good.!!  Great job!!  Hope to hear more of you

I tried my digitech harmoniser last night with the guitar already recorded I just plugged the guitar in and kept it low it was fine with the exception of my mic not getting any effects I will have to get a condenser mic as you suggested. Thanks to everyone   Alex

Great vocals here!! I have never used anything else for vocals other than the onboard mic. However, I have used an SM58 to record an amp cabinet just to see how it sounded - Not very good until I used a Lo-Z adapter to match the impedance.

I think the onboard condenser mic sounds great, so I hope you have good luck with the external version.
