Does anybody have experience with Tech 21 amp/speaker sims?

I picked up a Tech 21 Tri-OD the other day, it mimics marshall, fender, and mesa tones.  It also has a speaker sim.

When I plug into my MBR, it sounds harsh-but when I disable the MBRs sim its less harsh.

I really like the drive tones, and would like to use this more, does anyone have any tips?

Should I run modulation effects before or after this pedal?
To be pleased with one's limits is a wretched state.
