50 watts solid state, 30 watts tube should cover it.  Get your drummer lighter sticks and tell him to google dynamics.  Also wear earplugs.

With a PA you are gonna need at least a 200 watt system, probably more. 2 full range cabs with 12's should cover it at moderate volumes. It can also double as an acoustic amp.  I recommend you buy used.
