I have to apologize..This is about dreading the Christmas season.
I tend to become a curmudgeon over the whole commercial and over indulgence aspect but have to remember it's about getting along and not spoiling it for the family. They even bought me a black Santa hat with "Grinch" written on it. Lol
I got bored of just vox and guitars so I rummaged thru my junk drawers and found a harp that happened to be in the right key!!
Even that got to be a bit much so I learned just enough piano to do a solo.
What a riot. This must have taken me 6 hours or more and I hardly noticed. It's now 2:15 AM (The wife's away)
I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Excellent song, with some varied instrumentation throughout. Takes real talent to put something like this together!! Worth staying up to 2.15am for!!

This is great!

The Blues harp is very cool!

Question:-

Do you actually like Cat Stevens' Music.....?

I Hear of his influence in this.....  Especially in the Vox....... (Stevens or Kenny Rogers)...  The tone in this song reminds me of a track called "Banapple Gas"...

Cat Stevens is one of my Favourite artists....

You have a great Voice!

I really like what you have done with this Track!!!

Bravo from Italy!!!!  ;) ;) ;) :) :) :)

("bravo" is an italian word!!!)

I enjoyed that so much: vocals, recordings, harp, rhytm and so on.... :) :) :)

p.s. Do you use the built in mic? With which patch?

d.

Glenn Mitchell

Thanks so much everyone.
Yes Dade, I used the built-in mic but I'm embarrassed to say I didn't keep track of FX. Usually I record dry then bounce often using For Nylon but I have a User setting that is not so extreme.  I also use Voc EQ, Only Limit and Jinglemix (Under LN) to get separation during the various bounces.

Sorry, I'm still pretty random. Hopefully I'll settle on the perfect process and FX for me but there are so many choices to experiment with!!.
Mainly I'm just trying to learn to keep tracks out of each others way, first by panning and then by EQ settings in the various patches during bounces.
My process, if any, is often:
1. A "Scratch" vox with drums on to set the format and tempo. (T1v1)
2. Rhythm instrument (T3V1)
3. Bass (T4v1)
4. final lead Vox (T1v2) then move to V1 over the scratch track.
5. lead instrument (T2V1)
That gives me the 4 tracks all on v1's.
6.Turn off Vox and bounce the instrument mix with some low volume drums  and FX but keep them panned more than you would think. (T3/4 V8)
7.Add harmony vox to the spare track and rebalance the mix.
8.Bounce the Vox with the bass track or an added track and a second, low volume drum, sequence.(T1/2 V8) (I still do the drums real time as programming them still seems confusing and laborious)
9.Pan and Bounce or master the instruments with the vox (T1/2v7)
10.Add any needed touch-up tracks.(harp, piano, other harmonies. etc)
I'd be delighted if anyone saw an obvious flaw to this sequence and wanted to comment. I still feel like a rank newbie.
