Keep blowing left speaker of headphones

I recently purchased a 30 dollar set of headphones which i blew the first day, i returned them and purchased a set of stereo headphones for 50 which blew 2 days later. I plug straight in with my guitar and use the headphones and effects alone to record, is that my problem?

Was it the left side that blew both times? Could you hear any difference in the sound between the left and right sides?

Are you certain that the headphone element is actually blown and that it's not just a broken wire in the earpiece, headphone cable, or plug?

It's possible that there's something wrong with your BR-864 that's causing the blown headphones. Or maybe it's just a weird coincidence that you've had two defective pairs of headphones. I regularly use several sets of headphones on my BR-864 and haven't blown any in the nearly six years that I've owned it.

If it continues to be a problem, you could connect the BR-864's Line Out to a mixer, headphone amp, or stereo amp/receiver and plug your headphones into that instead of the BR. Although, I think the signal going to the Line Out jacks is the same signal that goes to the headphone jack. So, if there is a problem with that signal that's causing the blown headphones, it could damage anything connected to the Line Outs too.
