just a quick question. I noticed when i bounced the guitar on this it lost some of its top end. I know with my old 4 track tape the quality went down with each bounce. Is this usual with the BR?

as i understand it there should be no deterioration when bouncing, tho if you have reverb on it can effect the sound of what you are bouncing, if you are talking about mastering, the various mastering settings can effect the overall sound and, if you are saving as an mp3 i would suggest upping it from 128kbps to 192kbps when saving as the lower compression at 128kbps can effect the can cause this to happen.

I agree the bounce often kills some quality. I also agree it's got to be the FX . You might try some of the FX that boost the highs? That Jinglemix seems to help sometimes.
I'd be grateful if others with more experience in EQ would chime in on this issue.

No need. You made all of the points I would have made. In Bounce Mode, there should be no noticeable change in the sound. Bounce Mode just records the output of the BR's built-in mixer. So, what you hear while bouncing should be virtually identical to what you hear when you play it back. In Mastering Mode, the Mastering Tool Kit patches will definitely alter the sound (unless you turn off all the effects in the selected patch). And exporting to MP3 definitely reduces the sound quality slightly. The higher the compression, the worse the sound.

I agree with everyone else regarding bouncing. There will be no noticable degradation no matter how many times you do it if you keep the settings the same.

One point to consider is to watch the reverb with each bounce - By default, the input will have a setting of 15 which you should change to 0 when recording. Always start with a dry sound on the initial recording. Then watch how much reverb you apply while bouncing. If you keep adding reverb to a track every time you bounce it will quickly strip you of tone.
