Here is my version of Yngwie Malmsteen's "I Am a Viking", but without any vox.  Anybody is welcome to give this a go; I know Jeff Scott Soto's singing is sometimes hard to emulate - but hey give it a shot  ;D

Sorry that it's 5 minutes long - the backing track provided the format as well as the drums and bass.  I play all guitars  8)   The Yngwie-ish solo comes in around 2:40 or so....

I put this all together last night after watching America's Got Talent - and I imagined getting buzzed off the show after this tune...  :P

Holy crap, this is heavy.  This was also off my first Yngwie album, so it kind of takes me back...back to where I can almost see my non-existent Nordic roots.

Damn, when the solo comes in, you cop his tone nicely.  He always seems to have a slightly hollow, reverbed, live tone.  This makes we want to go out and pillage.  Instead, though, maybe I'll watch The View.

That was a joke.

One little niggle (to steal a phrase).  Isn't it Yngwie "J" Malmsteen?  I believe he added the "J" to distinguish himself from all the other neo-classical shredders named Yngwie Malmsteen.

Great playing but you know that by now.

I request his poppy song "Heaven Tonight."  It was/still is one of my guilty pleasures.

This is a clinic of what can be accomplished if you set your mind to it. Every time I listen to a Sachurated post, I always wonder the same thing "how the F**k is that possible?"

Heavy is a pretty good description.

Thanks for listening guys and for commenting!!  This is a heavy tune for sure with heavier lyrics...

We need a Viking to sing this one for sure - Our resident Viking says he's busy with work, but might try it in a couple of days .......Mwahahahaha.....

Here's the lyrics (by Yngwie J. Malmsteen):

I am a Viking, I'm going out to war
And I've got death upon my mind
As I was leavin' oh yesterday
I've got no fear in my heart

Chorus
As the shores of my home disappear
I sail over the sea without fear
Dragon ships are charging through the waves
Just want to sail away, far away into the sea yeah yeah

I am a warrior my mind is set to kill
Life or death is on the line
I am a slayer and you will taste my steel
I've got your life right in my hand

Chorus
As the shores of my home disappear
I sail over the sea without fear
Dragon ships are charging through the waves
Just want to sail away, far away into the sea yeah yeah

You are a loser and it's such a shame
That you're a fool and you don't know
That I'm a viking I'll walk all over you
And by my sword you will die

Chorus
As the shores of my home disappear
I sail over the sea without fear
Dragon ships are charging through the waves
Just want to sail away, far away into the sea yeah yeah
