No reason you can't; just connect its line output or phones output to the br's line in and adjust or disable the br's FX to your liking, record to a stereo pair of tracks.
Disadvantages over the built-in BR-600 drums: no sync!
And the loss of a pair of tracks (with the BR you can wait with adding the drums to the mix right until final mixdown, without taking up tracks)
If you like the alesis drum sounds better than the BR's, you could sample the alesis drums as a custom song drumkit in the BR and have the best of both worlds, somewhat (the kit in the BR has only 12 drums in a kit)

Right on!!

I know the MBR is quite inferior to the 600, but the principal is the same - If you are going to use electronic drums, It's much better to be synced. Plus, it is like having two extra tracks available.

Could you explain this more, Sander? That feature sounds huge to me!

Thanks,

Mark

Yeah what it says; you can load any WAV or V-track into any of the available drum pads. Easiest way is using the PC (BR Drum Editor) but you can do it on the BR itself too. I think the max total sample time is 13 sec.

Thanks! That's a really cool feature - another reason for me to get a 600 someday.

Why stop at the 600 Mark, what about the 900, and if you are looking at the 900 why not have a little peek at the 1200...  Thats what happened to me, I started out to get the 600 and came home with the 1200.

I know you make sense, Dave. Anything bigger than an MBR you have to park on a table anyway. The only reason why I might change (And I say might because I'm fairly happy) is to be able to program drums and have faders. I feel like I'm playing Nintendo with the MBR sometimes  :D

The 1200 is a sweet unit. You can use the BR Rhythm editor for that too, right?

Yup, BR rhythm editor.  It has an awesome drum programer, just like the DR_880 built in, you can also use sample loops to spice up the drums.  I have only scratched the surface of what the 1200 drum editor can do.  I bet, in the right hands it would sound like real drums (almost).  You could get the 1200 drums to sing Mark.

I just did some more investigating on the 1200. It is a powerhouse. I want one...
