I second that Nigel!

Okay, now I'm playing producer too.  To me it sounds like a long intro to a song.  About the time it ends, I hear bass and drums kick in with ringing, soaring guitar (diatonic please, not too fast, like Phil Manzanera on a good day) for about 16 measures (longer for the live version), followed by a return to the simple arrangement here for 8 measures, and coda.

I can't hear all the words.  Can you post the lyrics?

Thanks for the kind words, guys - Ted, I had to look up Phil Manzanera and now I'm embarassed that the name didn't ring a bell. I have, and greatly enjoy, the two early Gilmour solo albums, but haven't really dug into Roxy Music much. I have some catching up to do...

Remember, it's just a song. To clarify that statement, I played the "Apart" collab that I did with ORH, Geir and Side Effect to a friend of mine. After she listened (And heard the lyrics), I got a stern "You want to stay as far away from that guy as possible."  :D When I explained that it was me who wrote most of the lyrics, I got a surprised "What is wrong with you?".

This one's about loss, guilt and forgiveness. It's not finished, but I might complete the song and post the rest someday. I agree that it needs some buildup, strum, drums and lead.

A Look in the Mirror

Think I'll stick my head in the sand
For the rest of my days
Those long lost times in the sun
Have come and gone

Put my favorite T-Shirt on
It's full of holes
Used to be brand new
I remember when I first put it on

When I look in your eyes
I see all the demons inside
The people you've lost and
Trouble you've caused in time

I know the best days
They say are in front of me
But how can you go on living
Knowing what you know
"Now where did I put my stream of thought. But hey, fc*K it!!!!!!! -Mokbul"

Genuine poetry and self expression - telling the truth as you see it....That's what music is to me and your song is a good example of this.
If the human brain was simple enough for us to understand, we'd be so simple, we couldn't...

Thanks, bud.

I did kind of cruise through this so I wouldn't forget the vibe - It's pretty fast multitracking a whopping two minutes of music. :D
