"Virtual" Insanity? V-Track help needed !?!?!

Started by ADDMICROBR, September 02, 2009, 04:20:33 PM

Hi All,
This is killing me..... here's the problem:

I've recorded on all 4 standard tracks GUITAR/RHYTHM/BASS/VOCAL
but need to add one more track. (two would be nice)

I've tried to follow the V track method , even succeeded once! (then forgot what I did right)

Can't I just drop all 4 tracks down to a single normal track to free one or two extra tracks up?

If not, is there a more simple method in laymans terms to explain the v-track process?

Any Help massively appreciated!
Cheers,
Dan.

You need to bounce the 4 tracks to 2 virtual tracks - to keep it in stereo - so freeing up the other 2 for further recordings. Dont have my MBR to hand at the mo' so cant talk you through it as I cant double check ..... someone will tho.

Look in the tutorial section of the site, lots of good stuff in there!

Easy.

Hold down the Exit and click the Utility key until Bounce appears in the display.
You will see which V tracks the four tracks you have recorded will go to at theright hand side, something like 12V2 will be displayed, i.e. tracks 1 & 2 , both on Virtual track 2. Push record and play and let the bouncing begin.
At the end of the recording, push stop.

Push the TR1 butoon and push cursor right until you get to the Vtrack screen. All will be on V1. Chnage all to V2, TR 1&2 will have your mixed tracks on, 3 & 4 will be empty for your new instruments.

Repeat until you're sick of adding new tracks.

Nice work! thats saved me hours of button pushing!
cheers for the comebacks,

I usually turn Rhythm off just before I bounce, otherwise the drum arrangement will be recorded in my bounce as well.

Then I turn Rhythm back on and can make last minute adjustments to it before I master the song.

Yes - Don't forget to turn the drums off. I've been burnt on that a few times.
