Piezos are under-saddle pickups on some guitars.  They are known for a tinny, cold, quacky sound, but they're cheaper than in-body pick-ups, etc., so they're popular.  I assume that the piezo setting on the M-BR tries to compensate EQ-wise.

My Godin electric has a piezo pickup and a connector for guitar synth, which is what I was referencing in the original post.  This is predominantly two passes of improvisation, the first with guitar (with guitar synth swells behind it) and a second of noodling over the top.

Now that I think about this, this might have been done on the 1600.  It ends with that tamboura drone sound, which I think was a loop that was imported.  Hell, I can't remember.  It was just an old MP3 gathering dust.
