Here is my new song, have been working on for the past few weeks.  All guitars are my Telecaster, for synth sounds I used my new Roland SH-201 and kaossilator.  Harmony-G helped with the harmonies. Drums and bass are from the BR-1200.

The song was inspired from a novel from the great sci-fi writer Phillip Dick called "Flow My Tears The Policeman Said", which in turn borrowed part of its title from a John Dowland song called "Flow My Tears".  The book served as the inspirational spark, and so I called it "Flow My Tears".  Have a listen, comments please.

One morning I woke from a terrible dream.  It felt so real, but nothing was as it seems.

Light filters in as I rub my eyes and blink, as my senses recover I try not to gag from the stink. I don't know how I got here, or even who I am. I feel like I've lept from a Phil Dick novel, out on the lamb. Am I the dreamer or the dream?

Flow my tears, fall from your springs, exiled forever let me mourn.

I pull on my dirty clothes, head out into the street.  I see people everywhere, all grey faces and shuffling feet.  I've got to find the answer, I pray its not too late.  I've got to find someone I can trust, break this spell, change my fate, find the doorway out of this dream state.

Flow my tears, fall from your springs, exiled forever let me mourn.  In deadly pain and endless misery, for now left and forlorn.

I stumble on and fall to my knees.  I hear the dreamsong of the dreamer dreaming me.

The skies open up and a light shines down on me.  A voice says be not afraid, you've had a fever, it was just a dream.  Here take one of these blue pills, it will ease your pain.  Re-align your minds eye, let you see our world again.  As they turn I crush the pill underfoot.

Flow my tears, fall from your springs, exiled forever let me mourn.  Together, hand in hand, we watch and we wait, for that day, from this dream we are torn.

That's some killer songwriting right there, Dave!! A fantastic production, through and through. The intro was great, and the song just kept going up and up from there. The clean strumming and the solo's were awesome.

There is just so much going on, I'm listening for a second time and am picking up all kinds of cool stuff.

This is great, really great!! It doesn't hurt that it's an awesome song as well.

The barge pole thing comes to mind, but I can never remember the damn letters. Dave you are turning into a hell of songwriter. The hell of a musician thing... you already had covered.

You wouldn't happen to have a spare room that I can move into for a while do you? I'll take the one with all the toys!

Smart and cool - smool? 8)

Every few measures there was something cool that you added. Held my attention and made we want more when it was over. I thought your choice of the wah was excellent for the solo. Nice contrast and very appropriate to the mood of the song.

Really good work!

Thanks guys.  I wanted to write a song where I used only my Tele for all the guitar tones, I see why these are popular studio guitars, many tones are possible.  Then I got my new toy along the way (SH-201 synth), and that added a layer to the sound.  As for the lyrics, I was trying to create that uneasy feeling where the guy doesn't know what the hell is happening, but he has to go on anyway and try to survive, sorta trapped in the unreal world he finds himself in, like the feeling in the best Phillip Dick novels.  Thanks for the kind words everybody.
