the US strats are pretty dear over here -and being a lefty has always given the music shops a free hand to add another 15-20% on to the price

Exactly!  I would add also the Beach Boys, and the Drifters.  It also has a lot of mood.
 Despite the band references, this is uniquely creative, very well conceived and executed guitar and production.

More that a little like some of your other contributions, (sounds like a holiday tune), but this one is my favorite so far.  Hoping for more! :) :)
