This singer is fantastic, he belts it out, he quiets down , he has totally nailed this song, I am major impressed.  The whole band is tight, great drumming, kinda hard to hear the bass.  The guitars sound excellent.  I love that hammond organ sound there.  Really good job here, you must be pleased with how this turned out!!!!! It must have been a high to have played like this on this night.  Super job Blooby and company.

If you are looking for a nice early bluesy Tull I would suggest "A New Day Yesterday"  great song, your singer would have fun with that one.  I am also very fond of "We Used To Know" from the same era, now that is great stuff.  Both from the "Stand Up" album.

This is awesome. Sad I did not catch it earlier, ha ha. I'm in agreement with others, the singer did a fantasmic job on this one. Cool solo.

Quote from: Blooby on August 22, 2009, 04:49:17 PMYes, I know...I know we fell prey to the lure of the "Can't You See" three-chord wonder.  We even played "Free Falling" as well (yup, three chords).  I ask you what the hell happened to my prog and fusion roots?
Hey man, Rod Stewart always said three chords is all you need to make a hit!!

And from another thread...

Quote from: Bosko Schwartz on August 14, 2009, 04:06:06 PMHow about "Close to the Edge"?  Come on, you know you want to ... ;D

You see?  You are evil after all.

Well, then. :-\  I believe what happened here is that I seem to have mellowed out in my old age.  You see, that post was written a month ago ... which is about 20 years in BossBR.net time. :D

For now, I will be ecstatic to hear any Tull song.  Make sure your buddy on the keys busts out that sweet flute patch.

That said, you are correct, sir.  I am evil. ;D

Oh man, it's been a while since I've thought about this song. Definitely going to add it to our band's playlist now.  Enjoyed it!

Greetings, all. I hope this message finds you well.

Each time the band plays, I put together a Google site with our MP3s from the night for educational purposes. Our new tunes aren't quite happening yet although I hope to unveil a halfway decent version of "Whipping Post," a funky version of "Manic Depression," as well as a Little Feat tune one of these days.

Any-hoo, we usually start our jams with something easy, and even though I've posted this tune before (at the beginning of this thread), I thought this version had a certain something that warranted a new look-see. Mainly, our singer gets to cut loose a tad, and the piano and Hammond touches are nice additions by our keyboardist. Much like our last version of "Dreams," this one has a hazy, late night feel to it.

If you're wondering what's occurring vocally in the outro, there was a little spontaneous call-and-response thing going on, but singer two wasn't close enough to the single microphone we had set up.

It's nice to be back.

Love it!  Especially like your choice to do this with a slow bluesy feel. Really captures the mood of the song.

I posted a reply earlier in this thread that you inspired me to add this to our band's playlist. Well, I did, and we played it for the first time a couple of weeks ago. We're using it as our sound check song. It works well for that because this is a simple jam where we can all take a solo and let the sound guy fine tune each of us at the board. Three of us can sing so we can each take a shot at a verse and have fun with background vocals. And because this is a crowd favorite, early arrivers don't mind listening to us go on and on and on because we love this song! Thanks for the inspiration. Your band sounds great!

Oh man... this is f*cking gorgeous. And the 'something easy' description doesn't wash with me, 'cause this is stuffed full of real musicianship and talent. I don't know how you do it, but I'm glad you do! Sheer class.

p.s. I had to download it to get it to play, but I was going to anyway once I heard it, lol
