mastering problems

hope someone can helpme.i have recorded four tracks plus a drum pattern, all i want to do is get this onto my pc to put on a cd.
i tried to master the song, it appeared to have worked but when i played back the mp3 on the boss it had only mastered about 5 seconds of the song, the recorded part was about 35 seconds into the song. i tried again and this time i noticed when i pressed the record button it started to flash as it is ment to but when i pressed the play button to start the mastering the record light continued to flash(it did not go solid like it is ment to) it only went solid briefly part way into the song then started to flash again.
am i doing something wrong? i followed the instructions(i think).
now when i play back the song (not in mp3) the small portion that appears to have mastered plays louder than the rest of the song(only about 5 saconds long)
please help.

You maybe have an a/b auto punch in set? Check in the bottom lright of the display. If it is on, press A<>B to switch it off.
