I briefly had an Alesis SR-16, and it wasn't too bad of a unit. I also had a DR-670, which was a pretty sweet deal. It had killer samples in it, with loads of percussion. And like the DR-8 it has bass functionality - just more velocity sensitive pads.

However, I think it is faster and easier to program with a PC, like what Ron has. And, you could use a midi interface to run a DR unit from the PC at a later date if you want those sweet sounding samples.

Flash Harry

I have a TD9-EK which I have just used to record tonight for the first time for ORH and Geir.

Expensive toy. I get shouted at whenever I play them. They're far from silent.

Sometimes I use a Boss DR880, but i d'ont like the level output of the RCA line-out that is low and it could be bigger!!
