All of MY guitar tracks on my Soundcloud page were recorded on  $99 DeArmond M55 solidbody Les Paul Special clone with a replacement humbucker and a Varitone Switch.

I've had 2 DeArmond Starfire Specials - great guitars, loved them both and still sold them, one guitar in particular that I regret getting rid off. D'oh. :(

I had two M55's.  The Desert Sand was the one I modded.  I had one that was transparent red that I left alone. Both were nice guitars.

I still have all my guitars that I've acquired over the last 30 years - only ever sold one when I was a teenager and regretted it!

So - here's the rub. We guitarists have it easy. We can buy a pro-level guitar for less than a grand. Compare that to something like a French Horn or Bassoon, which start (pro-level) at 10K. You cannot buy a basson for £300. Violins have a better range - however a decent instrument will cost several £K's (although some of the chinese fiddles are good value, and are getting better and better). Most other instruments cost loads, guitars (and fiddles) have a much bigger market, and more competitions forcing the cost down and most other instrument player only have a single instrument to play. I'm glad I'm a guitarist :)

Just a thought!

My regret was a cheapo Squier Tele.  That damn thing sounded and played great and recorded like a dream. I have this feeling that a new one will have some missing mojo.  One of these days, though...
