Delay effect question

Is it possible to add a delay effect to just certain parts of a track with the BR600?

For instance, I would like to add an echo (that pans left and right) to the end of a vocal line.

I know I can do this in Audacity, but I would rather just use the BR600 if it is possible.

Has anyone done this?

Hmm, that's a good question.

I would try copy the segment you want to have echoed to another track, apply the effect there, and then try to mix it appropriately with the first track.

The low-tech solution is to simply press the EFFECTS button at the appropriate times to switch it on or off. Or you could do the same thing with an external footswitch (see page 191 of the BR-600 manual). The problem with this solution is that it's all or nothing. So you can't have one effect for your main vocal and switch in the echo/pan for one section. Instead, you'd have to use no effects for the main vocal, then switch them on for the echo/pan effect.

If you need effects for the main vocal in addition to the echo/pan at the end, then try Blooby's idea. Another way would be to record your vocal once with whatever effects you want, then bounce the vocal track through the insert effects (see page 95) while switching in the echo/pan effect at the desired location.

Hey thanks Blooby and 64 - those are great suggestions. I was kind of leaning toward Blooby's idea.

I am am trying to do some vox on a collaboration tune and I have used 8 tracks. I'm not the best at mixing, so I don't really want to bounce everything down. I can't get the song to sound "right" when I do this (not to mention I'm lazy as all hell and the pool and a Corona are calling my name right now  ;D).

I think I will post what I have for now, but I will definitely use these suggestions for my own future projects.

Thanks again for the solid advice.

Remember that you can always export this track to your PC, add the effect there and then import it back.
