Wanted to get this in before the end of it-Still have a few spots i might clean up later

In the spirit of Woodstock and stepping out of the box- I'm singing (jeessh)-thank you PJ for your challenge about stepping out of the box
I don't record very many covers at all but this is a song that i wanted to do anyway because of a recent contract settlement.
I badgered Old Rotten Head- Jim in to singing with me-he did a bang up job as usual-

So heres is a first mix

I used a 1978 Marshall with a Goldtop LP and Studio LP recorded with my SP C1 and a Shure 57
no amp models on the electric or acoustics
used my 1993 Breedlove RD1 for slide- i got a resonator kind of effect by using a sparkplug socket for a slide-lol
Rick bass and strat rythm  recorded direct in 600 ( i know it sounds a little subtle Flash Harry)

was having a lot of free nights to crank up the Marshall so sorry about the self indulgence here, but i was having fun

used A plugin on Sonar for piano-i use a axiom 49 controller

Hope you enjoy

Peace

Hey Ron !! Great work.

Love this! All the sliding guitars and great Marshall driven leads. Great vocal work too both from you and that old Scot. (Did you do that in Spain Jim?)

A keeper!

Oh well ........

Greeny

This sounds done to me. This is one of the standout tracks of the whole fest to my ears. The guitar work is magnificent (and pretty inspired in the case of that great spark-plug socket slide). The vocal interplay between you two really adds interest, and your voices have come out complimenting each other very nicely. It's a real pro job, but most importantly, it really is a fun song to listen to. Fantastique!

Ron, your vox are GREAT!! Don't be shy in future, you have real potential there. There's great expression in your voice, OK you may not be confident to tackle stuff with a huge range of high and low notes, but it sounds really good on this. Great idea to get ORH to help out, as Greeny says the interplay is great. But don't be afraid to do more vox in future, you will develop the confidence to do more challenging stuff.

The music is great, love those guitar sounds. In the days when I had a Marshall Stack, the head was from the 1970s and it was just beautiful. You have those great sounds here and the playing is so sharp. That reso sound is so cool - spark plug, LOL. Overall. the production is great as well, nice broad stereo image with things very well placed across the mix. The piano stabs are clever and fit in nicely.

Great job!!! Definitely a stand out track.

Cheers,

Nigel

Loads of room in that mix, works real well. The two vocals work well together too, and the slide is great! Brilliant cover, you should sing more often.

Alright!  This one has a good 'Woodstock' sound to it.  All of the instruments sound good but I agree, the slide is the standout.  And using a sparkplug socket for a slide ain't nothing but good guerilla recording tactics! No complaints about the vocals. Fine job!

These days I merely dabble at being old and wise.
But I swear, I used to absolutely excel at being young and stupid.

This is the way to do a cover!!!!! Awsome job Ron.  Nice mix of vocals here with ORH pitching in masterfully as he does, for sure nothing wrong with your singing voice, it has character and power.  Really great guitar playing, I love the sound of the guitar going through a real amp, so great to hear it this way and the perfect blues rock licks.  Superb job!

Bravo!!! What an awesome job - You can remix, but I love the sound of this production. Very well produced and Sweeeeet playing all around!

I liked the spark plug wrench trick, especially since you hail from Detroit :D The lead parts were excellent - love the feedback! It was cool where you interacted with ORH like you did - That came out great. Spot on vocals, Ron!! Very full and powerful - You should do more of that.

Love it!
