"clicking" noise when recording with MBR in hand

When recording vox I often hold the mbr in my hand like a mic. Problem is I often get those annoying clicking noises from squeezing that silver box too hard. I know others here do the same and occasionally have the same problem.

I was wondering if someone have a solution to this problem, except from the obvious, not holding it my hand?

It definitely is a problem. Unfortunately, there's no way around it unless:

1. You do what I do, which is to hold it very gently. I've had enough practice to do that without thinking now, and never have those noises appearing anymore. I find that it's not so much the pressure you put on it, but the movement of your fingers whilst holding it that makes the noise and clicks etc.

2. Get / build a hands-free music stand holder (someone posted pics of one a while back on here).

It is a pain though!

I wonder if a BA-MBR-S silicone rubber case would help?

It might dampen the handling noise.

Yes!! It does make a difference. I was just going to say that, but you beat me to it 64G's ;)

I made a post trying to express how great these things are, but it quickly got hijacked... :D

They are only 15 bucks and well worth the money. Aside from muffling hand held noise, it helps protect the unit from scratches and accidental drops.

Another thing I want to stress is to use the AB Autopunch function when recording vocals. The biggest source of the pops is from handling the buttons before and after recording.

Mark - pardon the unintentional oxymoron, but does the condom allow access to all the ports on the Micro BR?  :D

That was a serious question... :)

Ok, I'm going to try and do this without starting a grassfire :P Here we go:

Yes the protective sheath allows full access to the buttons, jacks, thumbwheels and battery/SD card cover. It is also thinner in sections for better button sensitivity. The corners are also nice and thick - I've dropped it a few times already, and instead of a paintchipping smack it's more like a bouncing thud. Key for a klutz like me.

Here's the one drawback, which doesn't bother me at all: In low light conditions, it is difficult to read some of the button labels. After a few uses it won't be a problem at all. With good light you can see everything fine.

Get one.
