cyber twin, layerin and first posts, oh my

            Greetings folks

I currently own a BR 864 & Micro, i purchased the Micro in hopes to understand the 864 more seeing as there hasn't been to much support for it out there.

My real problem isn't so much reading and understanding the Manuel, (it is slow going) but more my personal ignorance on how to use the tools and produce the sounds im looking for.

So if i may start my first post off with a few generic questions and again please excuse the ignorance.

Im hoping i can contribute to the site over the next little while once i get a better understanding!

    K, My No# 1 baby amp is a Fender Cyber Twin  http://www.fender.com/products/cyber/cybertwinse/home.php

Can i plug this directly into my 864 (or micro) as apposed to mic'in the amp live?.........and how? i've just been a plug in, dial up to 11 and blast it out kinda guy. dealing with other musicians and being dirt poor has driven me to go it solo lol

same question would go for a keyboard as well?

This may be a matter of preference but how much layering do you guys do?

For example, you have a generic one rhythm guitar, one lead guitar, on bass and one vocal..............how many times do you layer and bounce each of the tracks?

Im looking for more of a Nirvana In utero type sound, not a fan of the over produced sound that seems to have plagued the industry for the last decade.

With the right cables/adapters, you could connect the Cyber-Twin's LINE OUTPUT to the BR-864 or Micro BR's Line In. However, I wouldn't recommend it because the Cyber-Twin's output level is a bit high (0dBv) for the BR's Line In (-16/-10dBu).

Then why not just use the BR's built-in amp modeling instead of trying to connect the Cyber-Twin?

You should have no problem connecting the keyboard's Line Out jacks to the BR's Line In using suitable cables. For example, if your keyboard's Line Out has dual 1/4" phone jacks, then you'd need a cable like this:

Little late with the reply,  ;D, my apologies

Thank you for the advice, much appreciated and I did pick up the cables.

I guess im still old school in a lot of ways, with my old bands we always mic'ed the amps, the Built in amp modeling has some decent sounds, but there are a few tones I can only replicate with the Twin, of course im sure someone who understand how to use the machine properly could emulate my Twin tones perfectly!
