This is based off of a bluesy rhythm trick I learned from Larry Mitchell.
The bass sort of disappears, I should really fix it.
The octave solo is my weak attempt at a SRV mood (I think I got carried away).
The second solo is just me firing away on blues/dorian ideas.
I'm not too happy with the ending. I may go back and fix it (some day).
Please comment good or bad, if you like.

That's some badass playing, Jack!! The bass line is sweet - love the flange/phase effect. Wicked funky rhythm and hot licks. 8)

All in all a great TGIF tune - I might have to run off and get a bottle now. :P

Way to make an entrance!!

I was just about to say what great bass playing but then I saw it was your guitar! Nonetheless, it sounds good, although I agree it gets a bit lost. Overall, this is a great sounding effort, really very cool progression here. The guitars almost sound like voices in parts, that's a great feel. The solo playing is fantastic when it cuts loose. Perhaps the rhythm guitar is a tad loud, but this is great stuff, really enjoyed this. You sound like Bootsy Collins at the end on that bass sound!

Cheers,

Really great guitar playing here, great groove, great tones all around.  I had a look at your web-site, that is a really great site, lots of good stuff relating to playing guitar.  On your poll, who is the best british classic rock guitarist, I really wanted to vote of Rory Gallagher, but he was missing. I know he was Irish, but it is still British Isles, and he did live in London for most of his adult life, and he was the greatest guitarist of the pack (in my opinion  ;))

Thanks a bunch for your kind words!

Ferryman: I think the rhythm guitar may not be as bad with headphones. I need to get some mointors for when I do the stereo settings.

Blueberry: I added Rory so now you can vote! I had a few others I wanted to add but there is a limit. Thanks for checking out the site. The updates have slowed since I changed jobs in June but I have about 50 more videos planned. Next will be a Tom Sawyer lesson with backing track courtesy of the BR-600. I just finished the drums yesterday.

Spot on Jack. I'm just listening on headphones now and it's less obvious. I listened originally on my "radio mix" monitors and the mid ranges really come out. I would still be tempted to pull it back a little as the track builds. Even in the headphones it's overpowering the solo a little at around 2:08. Nothing major though, it's still a killer track and I love it. Love those "voice" guitars, a really great sound.

Man, I haven't heard Larry Mitchell's name in a long time.  First, I see your post, and now he's an endorser of new rack-mount gear called a Fractal processor (or something like that).  They listed him as a "successful producer" I think.

On to your tune.  What a cool choice of tones from the lead contrasting with the clean rhythm and especially the Bootsy Collinsish bass.  Very cool.

Love the last note as well.  Gives it a bit of a live feel.
