I do use a four-way switch on all my teles though, which gives me an additional "both pickups in series" option (the modern standard middle position is both pickups in parallel) - that position kinda rocks when you want/need it.

Ditto.  And ditto on the 3pc brass saddles.

I have got three working teles though!

Funnily enough, on the tdpri site, there seem to be a few "dyed-in-the-wool" tele-folks for whom the SG is the "second guitar" of choice. Now I've got me a decent one - and I've also learnt what teles are all about in the last few years - I can see what the connection is.

(Bear in mind, I've actually been a strat-man for, er, nearly 30 years now!)

Cant beat those vintage style sets.  I know Bare Knuckles are big on your side of the pond (which kinda makes me want a set).

I have some Fender CS 1954's in my strat and it nails that "classic" strat tone.  It does rock/blues/surf, and sounds interesting on modern stuff too.

As I type, Im listening to Telly's stuff wow thats cool.

i recently rescued mine from my girlfriends house(i always have a guitar of some sort there)-you guys got me missing it
i've got a hot stack in the bridge in my tele -it sounds fantastic, but not the stereotypical tele tone tho-
i think those wimpy pups are key to the the classic twang
