Well done Geir!  It's all there: the event, the inspiration, the response of writing the song and the performance.  A real lesson in songwriting and production. The special effects add seasoning but your basic guitar and vocal is very solid.  Fine job!

But I swear, I used to absolutely excel at being young and stupid.

Thank you all for kind comments, sorry I haven't had time to answer you before.

I left my cabin nearly a week ago and things look ... well not good, but not too bad either....today I heard that there's been more oil in the Rognsfjord, but I haven't had time to go out and check it myself yet. The fucked up thing is that the ship has not yet been emptied for oil!!! so it's still leaking after 10 days of calm weather!!!

Quote from: 64Guitars on August 04, 2009, 02:34:30 PMLoved the sound effects. Did you record any of them on the Micro BR or did you find them on the web? Also loved the drums. Were they done on the Micro BR? The fills work really well.
I did try to record the soundeffects with my yoga stereomic (as I've done earlier) but because of wind and rain the result was too crappy to use .... the drums are all mbr, as everything but the soundeffects are. Sondfx added in Audacity. Mastered on mbr.

QuoteI hope you don't mind that I added a picture and link to your post. It seemed more appropriate up there than down here.
Not at all ! Thank you for doing that, I had very little time/bandwith when posting this so it was a welcomed addition!

Quote from: tafka on August 04, 2009, 03:49:45 PMthis is powerful Geir , and the intro sounds like "the new cranes" which no-one has heard of??
You've mentioned them before and I did a search without luck on finding some audiosamples :( Do you have a link?

Quote from: Davo on August 04, 2009, 08:27:25 PMWhere was this oil spill btw?  Its so cool that you can  make a relevant song like this so quickly.  It seems to take me weeks and months.
The spill was Just south of Langesund in Norway. Langesund is the town closest to my cabin, and close to Porsgrunn, where I live too. see pic 3:

Mark (& Jim) Thanks for pointing me to frank black

Flash Harry, that's a brilliant idea, so long as we don't have death metal for every fatal accident  ::) ...........

Weather Report would be nice tho  :D .... and Traffic .........

1. A is where the ship stranded. B is where my cabin is.

2. A is my cabin, B is where I stood in the storm, watching the ship pass by, and C is my boat and where I found the duck.

Ahh I see-clearly this struck a chord with you, me too.  Flash Harry is correct SEEING, smelling, hearing, feeling death and destruction is quite different from reading about it in the paper, or watching a news report-where you see everything but know nothing (bowie quote I believe).
Old rottenheimer thanks for posting that Frank Black song-Ive never heard it!  How does he come up with that stuff-thats a great topic, like Geirs!

Geir for what its worth-yours is a real song-the genuine deal.
