Okay, what's the deal?! No comments posted? Does this song suck, or what?  All comments are welcome - I can take it.

Nope, the song doesn't suck. It actually sounds pretty good. I like the guitar myself and the groove. I think it is a pretty damn good tune actually.

Some things to consider (coming from a 600 owner and relative newbie myself)

1. You might get more comments if you posted MP3s instead of Youtube links. Members here are very courteous for listening to and commenting on all types of music and a lot of them have external sites, but they still post their MP3s here.

2. The BR600 MP3 board doesn't get as much traffic as the Micro BR board, so you may have to wait a while before getting a response to your post (or you could just buy a Micro BR  ;D)

So relax, post some MP3s and enjoy listening to some great tunes on this site.

It ain't pretty being easy.

Okay to Cover

Rick,

I really like this one too.  More good guitar work and songwriting.  I like that the well performed vox is a little stronger here.  The acoustic guitar sounds good and fits well with the riffs on the electric.

I'm pretty new at this by my brother has been recording for about 20 years and he told me that generally you want to consider panning the guitars out far left and right, then bass and drums on either side, in a little closer with the vox in the center.  I would liked to have heard the acoustic stand out on the right.  This isn't even critique, just a thought.

This is a really strong rock song with good lyrics well sung.  Great job!

QuoteYou would probably get more listeners if you posted MP3s instead of Youtube links.

Yeah, that would be nice.  And its true, the audience isn't as wide here as on U tube, but you get BR600 users and that's cool.  Keep 'em comin'!
Let it be known, there is a fountain, that was not made, by the hands of men.

Thanks Vann and Rolow!  I don't think I have these in mp3 format, and I didn't think it would matter if I just posted a link, so I am grateful you guys enlightened me. Something for me to keep in mind going forward.

Rolow, tell you brother I'm grateful for the tip about panning. I've always wondered about the proper way to do that and I've been just learning through experimentation. In general, I do what he described, but I've been very conservative with the amount of the panning, usually no wider than L25/R15 with the guitars, and the bass no more than L5. One exception is that I keep the guitars dead center when I use a stereo effect, because the BR600 manual says you defeat the stereo if you pan it at all. I'll take his advice and increase the panning on my next song, which I hope to post in a week or 2.

Thanks guys!

I really like the groove and the arrangement--especially how it breaks down to just acoustic guitar and drums near the beginning.  I'd say that could happen more than once in the song.  The song seems a tad long, but it doesn't need to be any shorter either--maybe it just needs some kind of punctuation in the middle: another breakdown, a modulation during the solo, or something.

Thanks guys!

Fenderbender - I ran my strat straight in and used the Aussie patch.

Ron - I have a Fishman transducer with onboard preamp in my acoustic. Very basic - no controls.  I plugged the guitar (unmic'd) into the BR and ran patch P83 (mic'd acoustic).

Steve - I took your pan advice on another song I'll post this week. I still only went to 20 on each side.

Ted - totally agree with you.  That short little bridge section just needs more, I think.
