The original composition (late 1600's) was done for vocals/choir (from what I understand) - Pachelbel was an organist - You can actualy go on any direction with these cannon/progression.  It is actualy a cool progression to jam on!

I just thought "to hell with it" and Part improvised it, in hope it would sound Ok...
