First, I'm impressed you have got so many changes of moood and tempo in a short song without it sounding fragmented. I think the thing that really appeals to me personally is that your philosophy of guitar and bass is similar to mine, you use the bass as a third guitar. It plays melodies that counterpoint what the lead (ish) guitar is doing in a lower register, and I really like that. Your guitar driven stuff doesn't have the traditional separation between lead and bass, your lead guitar lines are more like melodies than traditional lead guitar "off I go" solos, and they inetrtwine with the bass lines so well. Couple that with your vocal harmonies and this creates a very lush and multi-layered feel. Then you have the way you use keyboards to give a very different texture to the song, which changes the mood without making the song feel disjointed. Finally, your recording style always gives a unique "Bosko" signature and although the Void material may be a bit different, I can still tell that it's you. It's all great stuff and very impressive for a home recording set up.

Cheers,

Nigel

Wow, Nigel, thanks for taking the time to listen and post such an in-depth review!  I am humbled! :)  I certainly do NOT mind someone telling me such wonderful things.  It sounds like you have really listened to this a lot and de-constructed everything quite perfectly.  You're right about how I try to use bass, especially in this song.  Yes, my lead riffs are meticulously constructed, and I mean that not to come off as arrogant, but more because I am pointing out that I have almost zero improvisational skills.  So everything HAS to be planned out.  And since I am planning it out, I figure I might as well make it a melodic line rather than a "scorching" solo.  Plus, those types of solos don't fit with the music, even if I could play them, which I can't. ;D  So it seems to work out.  Thanks again for the very kind words! ;D

Well Bosko. Sorry it's taken me so long time to respond to this one. Summer vacation with not much online time is to blame. But I've listened to this one A LOT, together with the rest of my Bosko-collection on both my piePod and phone!!!

This is yet another great SL-track!!! From the yes-like guitar in the intro to the genesisy keys and maccalodic bass and your instantly recognizable vox and drums. And the Beatles-influence shows in the melody in a good original way.

I feel my English comes short when trying to describe your music!

A great addition to my Bosko-folder.

Wow, Geir! ;D ;D ;D

You totally just made my entire weekYes is such a huge influence on me, yet this is the first time anyone has ever pin-pointed any specific comparison.  Part of me knows the reason is because my musicianship is 1/100th of that of any of the members of the group, but still, I can't thank you enough for that compliment!

And I think you have coined an awesome new word: Maccalodic!!!  You really need to put that one in the BR.net Glossary!  And that is another incredible compliment, in my book!

Thank you again so much for your extremely generous words! ;D

Lovin' it! ;D

This is not the best constructed, most beautiful, interesting, and fabulous music I've heard at Boss BR Net.

Its all that for music I've heard anywhere for a very long time.

Lovin' it. ;D
