This one was recorded with DIY pedals, as always with me, through a Peavey ValveKing 212 amplifier.  I modified one of the mic input settings to produce a transparent recording (i.e. uneffected) of the guitar from the amp.  Miked the cabinet with a Shure SM57, slightly off-center of the cone, and about six inches away from the front of the amp.

This is one of my favorites at the moment, and the subject matter of the song is a little heavier than usual for me. This version of the song fades out.  Another version features a cold ending.

Enjoy.

NOTE:  The quality has been significantly reduced (96 kbps) in order to keep the thing below 5MB.

That was some deep and heavy stuff. Powerful riffs with the single note guitar weaved in - I'm into that!!

High production value with great drums, too. The vocals sound perfect - Did you sing into the Shure as well?

Thanks, guys.

Launched - The vocals were recorded with a Sennheiser E835, using vocal effect P011.  The track was recorded dry, so various effects could be auditioned before final mixdown.

Powerful stuff. You have a great voice, and this is very nicely put together. The guitars would sound better panned a little more L/R... just my opinion. Is this original? It's a tight bit of songwriting. Excellent, edgy stuff.

Bob Iles

It is an original, Greeny. All my posts here are original, and unless specifically noted as otherwise, were completely written and performed by me.

Thanks for the feedback.  It's funny you mention the panning - I'm actually revisiting most of my recent recordings with the intent of re-mixing and re-mastering.  There's a good chance that certain elements of songs will be re-recorded, as well, if necessary.

Recently remixed and remastered this one based on suggestions from you guys. I then went one step further and produced a video for the song. It's up at YouTube now. Here's the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qNlFVbwzijg. Hope you enjoy watching it as much as I enjoyed putting it all together.
