Insert steps displacing subsequent steps

Is there any way to keep insert steps from sliding subsequent steps forward? I find I have to go through the whole song after inserting a Rhythm Arrangement step and nudge everything back a measure or two.

No. Unfortunately, the Starting Measure of each step determines the length of the previous step. This was a bad design choice by Roland in my opinion. They should have had us specify the Step Length instead of the Starting Measure. Then you could easily insert steps without affecting the subsequent steps.

If you need to insert steps on the Micro BR, the only thing I can suggest is to use the [REW]/[FF] buttons to move from step to step instead of moving the cursor to the step number and changing it with the VALUE [-] [+] buttons. This allows you to leave the cursor on the Starting Measure so it can be changed more quickly on each step. Also, you should always start at the last step of your arrangement and work backwards to the inserted step. Otherwise, you'll sometimes find that you can't change a step's Starting Measure to the value you need because it would be greater than the Starting Measure of the next step, which is not allowed.

The easiest way to insert steps is to do it on your computer using the BR Rhythm Editor program. Unfortunately, the BR Rhythm Editor doesn't work with Micro BR arrangements. But there is a shareware program available for the Micro BR here:

I don't have a Micro BR so I've never tried this program. Maybe some other users can comment on whether it's worth the registration price (£20) or not. You can use it free for 30 days.
