Mark...Thanks for the listen and for sharing your thoughts. The 1200 has a dedicated stereo drum track...9/10...and a dedicated bass track..8...as well. Both are for composing and can easily be overidden and utilized as regular tracks. The drums sound good on the 1200, but as good or better on the Dr-3 (which is also programmable for both drums and bass) I don't mind confessing that i milk the daylights out of presets. Drum programming seems about as much fun as stubbing my toe. I hate shit like that...i lose all my enthusiasm and creative drive. Never had alot of patience. Trouble is, i love music with stops and loops often don't have them. I know i have to learn...i just dread it. Everybody says once ya get yer head around it it isn't too bad...we'll see. I am planning to go back to all acoustic music for the forseeable future so it may be awhile before i tackle "yet another learning curve". The drum sounds on your new tune are excellent and i'm shocked you get them with your MBR. Quite a little wonder machine. How you program them without track cost is beyond me. Bottom line is you and quite a few others here are way better than i am at the whole tech side.
The "mean" Tele sound is compliments of my Ibanez tube screamer, cosm effects, and seymorized pickups.
Thanks for giving me some food for thought Mark. maybe i'll just go and try and program some drums for like a slow blues...doesn't get easier than that probably.

ORH...lmao  shoot the curl but look out for the counter tops!...and remember ...they also unfold!

The 1200 looks to be a little bit different than the MBR with how the rhythm section is treated - the last three tracks 8-10 must have a mode for MIDI or Audio(Bass on 8 and Drums on 9&10). I might check the manual on the 1200 to see how that works. I bet you can load midi sequencing info right into the unit.

The MBR has a separate rhythm section (Drum only), that plays through it's own sequencer or something that is completely separate from the four playback tracks. It's either on or off - It's kind of like having having 6 playback tracks total, but not really.

The downside to an MBR is that the drum patterns are not modifiable - you have to use the 300 or so patterns that are available. You can mix and match, switch between tempos, but you can't actually change the drum parts themselves. There are tricks to enhance functionality, but it usually involves recording the drums to one of the four audio tracks so I don't do it. And percussion availability (Bongos, Triangle, Cowbell, Tone Block, Washboard, etc.) are nonexistent. I was jonesing for a sleighbell sound the other day and it really bummed me out...

I love my MBR, though - it really is a wonder machine 8)

Sometimes it is a great idea to stay away from drum programming for a while (I had a DR-660 a few years ago that didn't  get much use so it went to ebay), If I get sick of it I'll do what you do and use just a couple loops and call it good.

I would like to get another acoustic guitar and learn to play in the raw with no technology someday. I had an Ovation T-357 for a short period(Two weeks), but I hated it and promptly got rid of it after I recorded my "Live for Today" number. One of my friends has an awesome Taylor, so maybe I got spoiled. :D

Ahh, I digress...

Thanks BB...it's such a cool beat to play to....to me, it was the roots of punk.

Mark...i think i'll take your advice and give the drums a break for now. If you had a 660, you know what i'm doing. I'll learn the 1200...eventually.

As for acoustic guitars, i wouldn't be without one. I love my Taylor 314 but my nephew just bought a Baby Taylor....like $350 or soemething?...and it sounds and plays great! I also have the utmost respect for the Yamahas. Hard to beat for the money.

Mostly what i would like to do is write some new songs. My muse has apparently taken a vacation as i am OUT of stuff  :o   Guess i'll play oldies until he returns...

A Taylor for $350? I might have to investigate - my buddy's Taylor is awful nice with the binding and all that, but the playability is good for me. I suspect the lesser models are very similar.
