Here is a song in spanish - so I hope you don't mind...  Piero is a very pupular musician and composer in Latino America - he is from Argentina.  This song in particular has been done by 1,000's of folks - and now will add one more to the pile...  It is a beautifull -soulfull song --- to me it is equivalent to a bluesy song w/ full of feeling and emotions.

I did the song in spanish, but I enclosed the translation (or close to it) to English.

I hope you enjoy it --- have been working on it most of the day...

It sounds better via my headphones or my home stereo - it sounded bad quality via my pc speakers.

Enjoy!

"Old Man, My Dear Old Man"  by" Piero (Argentina) - arr. dayala7/2009

Is a good person my old man
Who is alone and waiting
He has a look of a long sadness
From so much time coming and going

I see him from a distance
But we are so different
It is because he grew up in a different century
With the trollies and (dark red)  tinto-wine

Old Man, My Dear Old Man
Now you are walking slow
Like forgiving time
I am your blood, my old man
I am your silence and your time (future)

His eyes are still good
And a heavy frame
Age just jumped on him
Without a carnival or festivity

I have the new years now
And the man has the old years
The pain he keeps on the inside
And, he has many stories without time

Old Man, My Dear Old Man
Now you are walking slow
Like forgiving time
I am your blood, my old man
I am your silence and your time (future)

I LOVE THIS !!!!!!!! You just plowed me under with this slice of perfection.  It has it all, the melancholy, the passion, the life... that is what spanish culture is all about.  I spent some time in Bolivia SA once many years ago, kinda like peace corps for canadian teenagers, I was 20.  I spent 3 months.  It totally changed my life.  I am who I am today because of that trip to Bolivia all those years ago.  Your song reminded me of that incredible trip.  Thanks very much for this post.  I am going to download this into my IPod right now.  Do you have any more like this?

Muchas gracias Osck!  Lo aprecio muchisimo!  Yeah, the cool thing about singing in spanish is that the vowels are all natural - so you can realy accentuate the vox.

Si, mi amigo! tengo otros arreglos de musica de mi tierra natal --- have other arrangements form my native country of Venezuela...  Need to get off the pc --- my wife Tammy wants to use it!   Take care'mon!!!

Thanks BB!!!  means a lot to get your compliments!  It is kind of to bad that we cannot offer opportunities like this world wide --- there are programs for exchange --- but, man going to another country and experiencing the people - is out of this world.  Was able to do this song with some folks i befriended while working on international detail to Nicaragua after hurricane Mitch - did not take a guitar w/me and that only lasted two days, went and bought me a cheap classical - man, but it sounded great --- every night while on the road we jam @ local pubs and put away a lot of "Flor de Caña" local rum - and habanos cigars!  From Carlos Santana to Piero...

DA - Oh, quite sublime. Guitar, Bongos, Vox. So simple, and yet so cross-culturally atmospheric. A download for sure when I get back home. Perfect by the way on Laptop-Headphones, which is always a battle in itself. Glad you introduced the Forum to a broader Continental influence. Well done.  ;)
