This song is for me the one of the most amazing sights at Woodstock.  John Sebastian had no plan to perform at Woodstock,  he just went to listen to the music and get stoned.  They needed someone to fill in for a few songs, somebody spotted him wandering around, stoned out of his mind.  They gave him somebodies guitar to play and he got up on stage, no practice time or anything.  He belted out a few songs, just him and his guitar and held the entire crowd mesmerized.  I especially like this one, his last song of his set.  He just stood there and frigging nailed it.  In honor of that moment, I offer my humble version of this song.  I came home from supper, pulled out the acoustic, set up the microBR with the Boss mini stereo condenser mic, and just played and sang.  One take, play and sing at the same time, in honor of John Sebastian, and this incredible moment in musical history.  Check the real version out on U-tube folks it is stunning.

Warts, bum notes and all here is my version of "Darling Be Home Soon":

Words to verses and chorus:
Verse 1-
Come and talk of all the things we did today
Here and laugh about our funny little ways
While we have a few minutes to breathe
Then I know that it's time that you must leave

Verse 2-
And now a quarter of my life is almost past
I think I've come to see myself at last
And I see that the time spent confused
Was the time that I spent without you
And I feel myself in bloom

Verse 3-
Go and beat your crazy head against the sky
Try and see beyond the houses and your eyes
It's okay to shoot the moon

Chorus -
So Darling be home soon
I couldn't bear to wait an extra minute if you dawdled
My darling be home soon
It's not just these few hours but I've been waiting since I toddled
For the great relief of having you to talk to

The words are a killer to get right! You did really Well!

One can get overly complicated when recording a song - as I am finding out with my br...  but nothing like getting a musical instrument and doing the music thing, just raw and in the flesh - no cut paste or bounce - like an impromptum performance - guitar and vocals!  Great cover! what's that sweet smell - it lingers!

It takes some nerve to go one take only with acoustic and singing.  It's hard to do.  I screw up all the time. LOL BUT YOU did wonderful.  Just what we expect from you BB

Sounds like you're standing on that stage at the real Woodstock! This is great, BB. I like this song a lot (being a bit of a Lovin' Spoonful fan), and you really nailed it. Great stuff.

Thanks very much,  I love that Youtube video of J.Sebastian singing this at
Woodstock, so I tried as best as I could to make it feel like that.  Just me and my acoustic and my microBR, no effects except for a bit of reverb.

Here is the real version, it gives me goosebumps to watch this:
