Problem when mastering

Hi there

I have 4 tracks of data and want to master them all onto one track and export to Mp3. I can do this but I get problems with the pan. Tracks 1 and 2 are panned left and right. I find that if the Pan is 30 or less then the track is centered on the mastered version. Am I doing something wrong? Surely I should be able to pan less than 30 and keep the effect after mastering? I've tried mastering to both 12 and 34.

Apart from that I'm loving the Micro BR.

Cheers

Hello there Martin. ;)

When you are Mastering in Micro BR it always mixes the trackes into 2 tracks (1 and 2 or 3 and 4). This two tracks can be seen has one stereo track with all the panning, reverb, volume information of the 4 original tracks. For example on pair (track 1 and track2): Track 1 stores all the information of the original 4-track panning that goes from the center to the extreme left and on track 2 its stored all the panning information that goes from the center to right. You don't have to change the panning of these two tracks (stereo track) to get it sounding like the original 4 tracks, Micro BR does it automatically. What you have to do is preserve not only one track but the two tracks and all will be sounding right.

Use this procedure when Mastering:

   1.  Make sure you are on the first screen. Press Exit and Utility two times simultaneously. You are now on Mastering mode.
   2. Press Effects and, using + or -, choose a mastering preset. You can hear the difference real-time by playing the song.
   3. Rewind to the beginning. Press Record and then Play. Your song is now being mastered in real time, when it is over, press Stop.
   4. A new screen will appear, asking you if you want MP3 or WAV export, choose YES by pressing TR4.
   5. If you want to name your song later on PC (which I recommend), just press TR4 again. If don't, press TR3. On the naming screen, you can use + or - to change the characters and right CURSOR to choose the next character. When you're done, press Exit.
   6. Press EXE (TR4). It will ask you to confirm. Press TR4 again. It is now exporting.
   7. Your song has now been saved in MP3 on the /MP3 folder.

I hope it helps. :)
