Hi,

Sorry if this has been answered before, but I could not find an answer. Also, I am new to all of this, so I don't yet know the jargon.

Is it possible to do the following? I want a sound to begin 100% on the left, pan to the right 100%, pan back to the left 100%.

I know I can set the pan level of individual tracks, but it seems to me that once the level is set, that's it. I'd like to be able to change the pan of an individual track.

Thanks for your time.

If you are talking about active panning (Real time while playing/bouncing/mastering), with the MBR there are two possible ways.

1. Use one of the Panning guitar patches with a stereo pair (TR1 & TR2 or TR3 & TR4 - Press both buttons at once to get an = sign between them). Then change the pan setting to the rate you desire.

2. Manually press the -+ Value buttons to pan while recording/bouncing/mastering. If you want a really fast rate, check this post out.

As the MBR has no Faders, sliders or a shuttle wheel, it is difficult to actively pan with it.

Hope this helps (And welcome!!)

Thanks!

I am not sure if I am talking about "active panning" or not.

Is it possible to apply this after recording something? As I will be playing, it might be difficult to fiddle about on the MBR.

Ok - Then I think your best bet would be to use a built-in stereo panning effect to start:

1. Plug your guitar in and press Effects.
2. Scroll to effect #69 (There are others, but this will give you the idea)
3. Exit to the main screen and press one of the TR buttons.
4. Move the cursor button all the way to the left to "Rec Track".
5. Press the TR1 and TR2 buttons simultaneously to get two rec lights blinking.
6. You should feel the love by now - Go back to effects and change the rate to faster or slower (Effects|EDT|FX|Cusor button to rate|Value button to increase or decrease.

There are other effects that do this as well - Hope I got you started :)

You can change the panning after you have recorded by just changing the L/R pan position when you are bouncing to another track. When you bounce, you can have up to 4 tracks being bounced to another stereo pair of tracks. Each of the four tracks has its own pan parameter, and you can change this as you are bouncing in real time. So you can move any individual track (or stero pair) as the track is being bounced by going to the appropriate screen and pressing the +/- buttons. You can also use stereo effects as Mark describes above, it depends what you are trying to achieve.

Cheers,

Nigel
