I'd completly forgotten this one-- always liked it----still do. Really great treatment of it.
Sounds like touch of early Jefferson Airplane there somewhere? :)
I always say, if I can leave somebody happy and smiling at the end of the day-----I've completely f*cked up!!

Bloody hell... I mean BLOODY HELL.... this is awesome. I love the way you sing this. It's beautiful and perfect. What a voice you have, and it works so well on this track. You give it real emotion and depth.

This is an incredible piece of work. I love it to bits.

I don't think you've had enough praise on this one.... !!!!!!!

Thanks tim , I was beginning to think I was the only one that liked this song , probably should have done another take , I felt the vox were a little strained in places , but trying to do a song in one take is what I'm after sometimes for a live feel , you,ve cheered me up now , thanks again mate

I first heard of Bert Sommer when I was looking at the performers list on here. After checking him out on YouTube, I can't believe that he's not more renowned (or maybe he is and I just don't know it!). I think he's fantastic - I'll be getting his stuff on CD when I can. I could hear all the things I'm aiming for in his songs. So I also know what a magnificent job you made of this one. And I'm glad you got on with the GTR+MIC technique - it really is the best of both worlds! And you've made it sound very organic and natural.

The vox didn't sound strained at all. They sounded like a perfect fit to me. I'd love to see you do this one live!

It really is special.

I have much the same feeling about this as Greeny.

1) Your performance of this song is superb! The vocals are extremely well done, and I just love the sound of that DADGAD 12-string. One of my favourite songs here too!

2) I too had never heard of Bert Sommer before we started this Woodstock tribute. But I've been listening to his songs on YouTube and I think he's pretty great. I think that if "Jennifer" had been included in the original Woodstock movie, he'd have become a lot more famous.

By the way, I read that Bert Sommer was in the L.A. cast of "Hair" (the musical) along with Jennifer Warnes, and this song was written about her. She's best-known for her duet with Joe Cocker of "Up Where We Belong" from the film "An Officer and a Gentleman", and "(I've Had) The Time of My Life", a duet with Bill Medley from the film "Dirty Dancing".

And don't forget her album of all leonard Cohen covers "Famous Blue Raincoat", just a fantastic job with that one.
