Quote from: baddolphin on August 25, 2009, 07:30:59 AMSo far I'm unable to find a store that even sells anything that old/small.  The smallest I can find in any brand is 2G, and the racks tend to be stuffed with 8G and 16G cards.

Also, if you are like me and want to support your local businesses, a 2GB card will usually work - I have a 2GB SanDisk card that functions just fine. The MBR will only provision 1GB for usable space(The most you can get with an MBR), but since the cards are so cheap it didn't really matter to me. I'm sure larger cards will work as well. I have an 8GB card that I might try later to see what happens. Anyway it's good to know if you are in a pinch.

Just a thought...

I'm not so sure about that. The Micro BR uses SD cards. The theoretical maximum size of an SD card is 4GB. Anything bigger than that is SDHC. In fact, most (if not all) 4GB cards on the market today are SDHC. SDHC uses sector addressing rather than byte addressing. I suspect that the Micro BR will not work with SDHC cards. But I'm not certain, so give it a try with your 8GB card and let us know. My guess is that you'll get an "Unsupported Card!" or "No Card!" error as soon as you insert the SDHC card and turn the Micro BR on.

I wonder if Roland will announce any firmware updates at their Sept. 1 product release to allow the BRs to use larger cards. That sure would be a welcome update for BR users. On the other hand, I'm not sure if a firmware update is all that's required to allow the Micro BR to use SDHC cards. Maybe there are hardware considerations too. I don't know.

Hmmm... So that means there won't be anything that will work before long. I haven't located my 8GB card yet but will let you know how it worked out when I find it - It might even be 4GB, can't remember. Either way I'll get the results out.
